Experience & Activities

Mr. Holmes is the Managing Director of Capital Options Ltd., a financial advisory firm he founded in 1997. The firm specializes in capital raising, mergers & acquisitions, trade financing and private equity investing. In addition to his banking and financial markets experience, Mr. Holmes’ technical skills and experience in management has enabled Capital Options to undertake and successfully complete a wide range of financial and management advisory mandates in the Jamaican market.

Prior to establishing Capital Options, Mr. Holmes was the Chief Operating Officer of Manufacturers Merchant Bank Ltd. (MMB) from 1991 to 1995 and was responsible for the general management functions of the Bank. Before joining MMB, Mr. Holmes was a Vice President of Citibank where he served as a senior manager in virtually all aspects of the bank and its subsidiaries operations in Jamaica, including Corporate Banking Group Head, Financial Controller for Citibank Jamaica and its subsidiaries, Managing Director, CitiFinance Limited, Manager, Centralized Operations and Chief Inspector for Citibank’s Caribbean operations. During his career, he has led or participated in many notable transactions in the Jamaican and international financial markets, including:

– Debt and equity financing for green-field projects in several industries,

– Privatization transactions spanning several industries,

– International debt and equity placements in the US, European, Japanese, Caribbean and the Puerto Rican markets,

– Debt/equity swaps for Jamaican tourism projects through the Jamaican debt

conversion program,

– Structured trade finance transactions for public and private sector clients,

and

– Balance sheet and debt re-structures for several clients in various industries.

Mr. Holmes attended the University of the West Indies where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies ( Hons.) in 1987 and a Master of Science degree in Accounting from the same institution in 1990. He is a past member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Mr. Holmes currently serves on the Board of Directors of Allied Insurance Brokers Limited (Chairman), Barnett Ltd. (Director), Capital Options Ltd, (Managing Director) and Wigton Windfarm Ltd. (Chairman). He previously served on the Boards of Carreras Ltd., Victoria Mutual Building Society and as representative of the Financial Sector

Adjustment Company (FINSAC) on the Board of Life of Jamaica Limited (now Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited). He has also served as a guest lecturer in the Department of Management Studies at the University of the West Indies and in the University of Wales MBA Program.

Mr. Holmes and his wife, Dayle, have a son and a daughter. He is a sport enthusiast who plays several outdoor and indoor sports competitively.
