There will be a third business process outsourcing (BPO) incubator in Jamaica, which will be located in the island’s second city of Montego Bay.

Real estate firm Barnett Limited is building Jamaica’s third BPO incubator in its tech park in Montego Bay, offering plug-and-play contact centres for start-ups that have contracts to provide customer experience (CX) service.

The tech park, located on Fairfield Road in St James, is about 10 kilometers from the Sangster International Airport and already houses large foreign BPOs such as Conduent.

The two other BPO incubators are located at Montego Bay Free Zone and G-Tech Park in Portmore. Incubators are usually equipped with high-speed internet, telephones and other resources such as PCs, headphones, and software.

In addition, the incubators provide training programs in areas such as customer service, sales and marketing.

CEO of Barnett, Mark Kerr-Jarrett, is very optimistic about the new BPO incubator explaining, “what it does; it creates the opportunity for the new player to come in and test the water….We have two floors at 22,000 square feet. We have five floors at 4,400 square feet each, and they can take any portion of that and then build out as they grow and get a better foothold in Jamaica.”
